Lifting with round steel chains

Full Screen Title

Lifting with round steel chains

Round steel chains are subdivided into untested, tested and calibrated chains. Tested chains have been subjected to force situated between the load-bearing capacity and the minimum breaking force. By applying the test force on the chain, it is ensured that the chain will neither be extended nor undergo rupture during its specified use. If the chain is loaded with a force above the test force during its use, it will be undergo plastic deformation which must contribute by at least 15% until reaching the breaking load (applies not for hardened chains). This is therefore an optical test measure for chain overload. Tested chains are suitable for load lifting. Calibrated chains are tested and fine-toleranced and will be suitable for being run over chain wheels.
